OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS UNDER 35
TIME For the 4th edition of Venere in Teatro – Dance Festival
scheduled from 10 to 22 September 2024, Live Arts Cultures in collaboration with Operaestate Festival Veneto are pleased to announce the open call TIME For selecting 2 dance performances presented by artists/collectives UNDER 35. The two performances will be selected, one national and one foreign, and scheduled within the Festival in the spaces of Forte Marghera, Venezia Mestre. |

TO WHOM IT IS ADDRESSED
It is possible to submit one’s work if the author/authors are under 35 or the majority of the collective is under 35 – a feature not required for all the others involved (performers/technicians/others). WHERE The venues are former military buildings within a historic and monumental park – a former military fort – now a venue for exhibitions and events, and for the activities of artistic and cultural associations. It is 10 minutes from the historic centre of Venice. THEMES TIME seeks research that starts from or encounters the theme of time: duration, endurance, transformation, perception, wear and tear, renewal, birth, death, life, celebration, and rituality. These are just a few words, shared only as examples, which help us declare our curiosity to get to know young authors who have found in TIME a field of conceptual investigation to inspire their work. WHAT WE SEEK We are looking for performances that: - can adapt to non-theatre spaces, - are completed or in the process of being closed or have already debuted, - that dedicate a privileged, though not expressive, space for dance, - that can offer original choreographic writing reflecting the artist’s poetics, - that are relevant to the theme of the call. The two works will be selected by the artistic direction of the Festival – Marianna Andrigo and Giuseppe Esposito, and curator Michele Mele of Operestate Festival Veneto. Applications will be accepted until January 30 2024 at 23:59. The results will be emailed to all participants and published on the liveartscultures.org website by February 20, 2024 |
